History of Qunoot Prayer
In the year 4 AH, a man from Najd, Amir ibn Malik, came to the Prophet of Islam. Hazrat Muhammad PBUH invited him to Islam. Although he did not accept Islam, he asked the Prophet to send some companions with him. Whoever invited his tribe to Islam, the Prophet sent with him seventy companions who were also his disciples and were very dear to the Prophet.
But the nephew of Amir bin Malik did not listen to them and united the tribes around him and attacked the Companions and martyred them in a cruel way.
This incident is known as Beer Ma’una which was a well and this is the place where these companions were martyred.
The Prophet of Islam was deeply shocked by this tragic incident. He cursed the killers and prayed fiercely against them, which was named Qunoot Nazla and from here the Dua Qunoot began.
Apart from this, other prayers are also proved by the hadiths which are called qunut prayers.
